Just a word of warning for all you guys renting places; know the person you're moving in with before you move in. If you pay differently, (like if one person pays and you pay them back) make sure you get that in writing.

I paid the deposit for my cat Vivi on my previous apartment, but I paid it through my former roommate. Of course, when I moved out early, she remorselessly kept it though I had already paid her back.

Be wise, kids. Get this shit in writing. That deposit could have helped with rent or fed Jonathan and I for two or three months.

Also, when you move out, check all the cupboards and cabinets for things that you might be leaving. I accidentally left my blender, which she also kept.

Just letting you know, in case you're reading this; I had all opportunities to be dishonest by not paying you back each month for my half of rent. I only refused the first part of the last month because you and your mother weren't giving me back my deposit; I wasn't about to give you another $100 on top of the $200 of mine you already had.

So much for expecting honesty on your part.
